So this Les Trois Mousquetaires Gose has been chilling in my fridge for the past few months waiting for a nice cold fall day…nah, just kidding, I kept forgetting about it because I kept moving it around in the fridge. But what better time to try it than when temperatures are in the single digits.
Les Trois Mousquetaires Gose is a 3.8% sour ale with a straw/light golden color and almost no head. The nose carries a lot of funk and promises for a good and refreshing time. Citrus peels, sour pears and rosehips notes are also present. The beer is very sour and very refreshing. The initial sourness puckers the lips, but once it goes away, notes of freshly cut grass, damp cellar, lemon and spices emerge and linger well into the finish. Oddly, the longer finish also carries some subtle Swiss cheese notes, which I enjoyed…but maybe because I had some nice cheese earlier in the evening and the beer reminded me of it.
Anyways, super refreshing and amazing beer. Get a bottle.
