After what seems like eternity, I finally made it to Rainhard Brewing last weekend. To take full advantage of this visit, I got every beer they had in bottles and some I got 2 of. I won’t review each and every one of them, but I thought I’d do a few.
Starting off with Rage & Love; Rainhard’s dry-hopped sour that clocks in at 5.5% ABV. This isn’t the best beer to have on a -10 degree day, but I just love sours.
Rage & Love has a light to medium golden color and pours with a thin head and little lacing. On the nose, the hops come through strongly and give the illusion that this is a pale ale and not a sour. But damn, the minute this beer hits your lips, they pucker up. The sourness is strong and lasts through each sip from the start to the end. There are strong notes of lemon juice and peels, subtle coriander, dry grains and a tiny bit of hops at the end. The finish is dry with a mix between lemon peel and hops. Very refreshing beer and a lovely sour.
